Certificate Maker

Generate an A4 landscape certificate of achievement with a recipient and signer

About Certificate Maker

Certificates of achievement, completion, and participation often need to look the part — clean typography, proper margins, a tasteful border, and a balanced layout. This tool gives you all of that without opening InDesign. Pick a recipient name, achievement, issuing organisation, date, and signer; choose between three themes (classic gold, navy and cream, modern green) and three border styles (double frame, single line, ornate corners); and the certificate renders live on an A4 landscape canvas at 1754×1240 (≈150 DPI). Export as PNG for emailing to recipients or PDF for the print shop. There is no signup, no template marketplace upsell, and no watermark on the output. Useful for course completion at training programs, employee recognition awards, school class certificates, online workshop participation, and certificate-style printable graphics for personal use.

Why use Certificate Maker

Three Themes Cover Most Use Cases

Classic gold reads as formal and traditional, navy and cream reads as professional and corporate, modern green reads as fresh and academic. Switch themes instantly without losing your data.

Three Border Styles for Different Tones

Double frame is classic and ceremonial, single line is minimalist and modern, ornate corners read as old-fashioned and elaborate. Pick the one that matches your event's formality.

A4 Landscape, Print-Shop Ready

The canvas matches A4 landscape proportions exactly, and PDF export uses jsPDF's A4 page size. A print shop receives a certificate that fills the page edge-to-edge with no manual scaling.

Live Preview — No Surprises

Every edit re-renders the canvas in real time. Long names, unusual achievements, and date formats all preview before export, so you never get a surprise on the printed page.

Browser-Only — No Account, No Watermark

All compositing runs on the local Canvas, PDF generation runs through jsPDF in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. No watermark, no upsell.

Free, Unlimited Generation

Run a workshop with 30 attendees? Generate 30 certificates by editing only the name and exporting again. No daily quota, no premium gate.

How to use Certificate Maker

  1. Type the recipient's full name as it should appear in large script.
  2. Add the achievement or course name, issuing organisation, date, and signer info.
  3. Pick a theme — classic gold, navy and cream, or modern green.
  4. Pick a border style — double frame, single line, or ornate corners.
  5. Watch the live preview update as you edit.
  6. Download as PNG for digital delivery or PDF for printing on A4 paper.

When to use Certificate Maker

  • When a training program ends and 30 attendees need certificates by tomorrow.
  • When recognizing an employee with a printable award at the end-of-year company gathering.
  • When a school teacher needs class participation certificates for a student awards day.
  • When closing an online workshop and you want to email a personalized PDF to each attendee.
  • When generating mock certificates for printable graphics, props, or a charity raffle prize.
  • When iterating between two formality levels — formal vs casual — to match the issuing org's tone.

Examples

Workshop completion

Input: Recipient "Sam Patel", course "Front-End Performance", classic gold theme, double frame

Output: A4 landscape PDF with gold script title, gold double frame border, recipient name in large serif, two signature lines

Employee recognition

Input: Recipient "Jamie Wong", award "Quarterly Excellence", navy and cream theme, single line border

Output: A4 landscape PDF with navy ink on cream background, single line frame, professional formal tone

Class participation

Input: Recipient "Year 5 Student", course "Spring Term Reading Club", modern green theme, ornate corners

Output: A4 landscape PDF with fresh green ink, ornate corner flourishes — appropriate for a school awards day

Tips

  • Long recipient names look best with double frame borders — single line and ornate corners crowd longer text.
  • Classic gold pairs with formal recipients (academic, legal, corporate); modern green is more relaxed for workshops and casual events.
  • Issuing organisation reads small at the top — include the full legal name, not an acronym.
  • Date format is freeform — use "May 8, 2026" for US English, "8 May 2026" for UK English, or any locale convention.
  • PDF export targets exact A4 landscape — print shops need no manual scaling. Send the PDF, not the PNG, for best print quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper size does the PDF use?
A4 landscape (297×210 mm). For US Letter, you can rescale at the print dialog or open the PDF in any editor and export to Letter; the design will fit visually with minor margin adjustments.
Can I customize the title text ("Certificate of Achievement")?
Not directly — the title is fixed in the current version. You can edit the body text just below it, which gives you a similar level of customization (e.g. "is hereby awarded the title of...").
Can I add a logo or seal?
The current version does not support logo upload — the focus is on clean text-based certificates. For logo placement, export as PNG and overlay the logo in any image editor.
Will the gold border print as gold?
RGB "gold" is rendered on screen as a yellow-brown — when printed via standard CMYK, it reads as warm yellow rather than metallic gold. For metallic gold, ask your print shop about foiling.
Can I generate batches?
There is no built-in batch mode — you edit the recipient name and export once per certificate. For 30+ recipients, scripting the same flow across a CSV is more efficient via a custom workflow.
Is there a watermark?
No watermark, no logo, no upsell. Your certificate is exactly what appears on the canvas.
Are my entries uploaded anywhere?
No. The canvas, jsPDF generation, and PDF download all run in the browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
Can I change the fonts?
Fonts default to Georgia for serif feel. The current version does not expose a font picker; later iterations may add Playfair, Merriweather, and other web-safe alternatives.
