About this tool
Play a quick game of Tic-Tac-Toe with someone on another device. Find a random opponent who is looking for a game, or create a private room and share its six-character code or invite link with a friend. The server checks every move, keeps both boards in sync, and decides wins and draws. After a round, both players can agree to a rematch; your marks switch and your match scores carry over. No account, download, or payment is needed. Keep the same browser tab open to keep your seat. A brief connection loss gives you 45 seconds to reconnect, and refreshing the tab restores your game. Anonymous sessions and game state are stored temporarily on our server and expire after an hour of inactivity.
Why use it
Real opponents: Play against another person connected to the same server.
Private invitations: Share a room link or code to play with a friend on any device.
Fair turns: The server rejects occupied squares, out-of-turn moves, and outdated requests.
Rematch together: Both players consent before a new round, with alternating marks and a running score.
How to use
- Choose Quick match to find a real opponent, or Challenge a friend to create a private room.
- For a private game, share the room code or invite link; your friend enters the code and selects Join.
- Wait for both players to connect. X goes first; select an empty square when it is your turn.
- Connect three of your marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line to win. A full board with no winner is a draw.
- After a round, select Run it back. The next round begins after your opponent accepts, with X and O switching seats.
When it helps
- Challenge a friend on a phone, tablet, or laptop without installing an app.
- Take a short break with a random player who is also looking for a match.
- Play a series with the same opponent and compare your running score.
Tips
- X moves first in every round; take note when your mark changes after a rematch.
- Use the same tab to reconnect. A shared invitation joins an empty seat and does not recover an existing player.
- Keyboard users can reach every playable square with Tab and select it with Enter or Space.
