About this tool

iPhones save photos as HEIC (or HEIF), a format that many Windows PCs, document portals and printers do not accept. This HEIC to PDF converter turns one or more HEIC photos into a single PDF without uploading them. When you add photos, the tool loads the open-source heic2any decoder and converts each HEIC to a JPEG at 92 percent quality inside your browser. Thumbnails appear in order; drag them to rearrange the pages or remove any you do not want. Choose the page size (fit to image, A4, US Letter or A3), the orientation (auto, portrait or landscape) and a margin from 0 to 100 (in PDF points, shown as px on the slider), then create the PDF with pdf-lib and download it. Each photo becomes one page, scaled to fit and centred. If a HEIC file holds several images, such as a burst, only the first is used. The decoder library is downloaded from a CDN on first use, but your photos stay on your device.

Why use it

  • Photos stay private: HEIC decoding and PDF creation both run in your browser.

  • One PDF from many photos, in the page order you choose by dragging thumbnails.

  • Standard page sizes: A4, US Letter, A3 or pages that fit each image exactly.

  • Auto orientation turns landscape photos into landscape pages when you use a fixed paper size.

  • No account, watermark or file count limit.

How to use

  1. Click the upload area or drag your .heic or .heif photos onto it, and wait while each one is decoded.
  2. Drag the thumbnails to put the pages in order, and use × to remove any page.
  3. Choose the page size, orientation and margin.
  4. Press Create PDF, then Download PDF.

When it helps

  • Submitting photographed documents, receipts or IDs from an iPhone to a portal that only accepts PDF.
  • Sending a set of iPhone photos as one attachment instead of many HEIC files.
  • Printing HEIC photos on a computer or printer that cannot open them.
  • Archiving whiteboard or notebook photos as a single document.

Examples

Two landscape photos on A4

Input

2 HEIC photos (1200×630 and 800×600), A4, auto orientation, margin 20

Expected result

2-page PDF with landscape A4 pages (842 × 595 pt), 218 KB

One damaged file in the batch

Input

3 HEIC files, one of them corrupted

Expected result

Status: Could not decode: bad.heic; the other 2 photos become a 2-page PDF

File name

Input

cover.heic added first

Expected result

Downloads as cover.pdf

Tips

  • Use Fit to image for photo albums and A4 or Letter for documents you plan to print.
  • A margin of about 20 helps stop printers clipping the edges of photos.
  • On an iPhone you can also set Camera › Formats › Most Compatible to take JPG photos in future.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the High Efficiency Image Container format that iPhones and iPads use for photos by default since iOS 11. It often stores photos in around half the space of a comparable JPEG but is not supported by every computer or website.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The heic2any decoder and the pdf-lib library are downloaded to your browser from public CDNs, and then all decoding and PDF building happens locally.
Why does adding photos take a few seconds?
HEIC decoding is done in JavaScript on your device, which takes longer than opening a JPG. The status line shows which photo is being decoded.
Is image quality reduced?
Each HEIC is converted to a JPEG at 92 percent quality before it is placed in the PDF, which keeps photos visually close to the original. The PDF page then scales the image to fit the paper size and margin.
Can I change the order of pages?
Yes. Drag a thumbnail onto another position to move it, or press × on a thumbnail to remove that page before creating the PDF.
What if a photo fails to decode?
The tool skips it and names the file in the status message. Other photos are still added. Very unusual HEIC variants may not be supported by the decoder.
Does it handle Live Photos or bursts?
Only the first still image in a HEIC file is used. Live Photo video and additional burst frames are ignored.
