About this tool

Audio Recorder is a private browser studio for voice notes, podcast drafts, and voiceovers. Watch the live microphone waveform while recording, pause for a break, and stop to open the editor. Select a section with the Start and End controls: keep it to trim the edges, or cut it to remove a mistake in the middle. Preview the result, undo the last edit, or restore your original take. Name the recording and download the edited audio as WAV, or keep the original browser recording as a backup. Everything runs on your device without uploading your audio. Download your files before starting a new recording or closing the page.

How to use

Click Start recording and allow microphone access. Watch the timer and live waveform while you speak.
Use Pause and Resume for breaks, then Stop to open the editor.
Drag either waveform handle to adjust the selection, slide the highlighted region to move it, or use the Start and End inputs. Click Play selection to preview.
Choose Keep selection to trim the edges or Cut selection to remove that section.
Use Undo last edit or Restore original if you want to reverse a change.
Name your recording and choose WAV (the default), MP3, M4A, OGG, or FLAC in Save as. Download the edited file or keep the original as a backup.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. Microphone audio stays in your browser until you download it to your device.

Which format will I download?

WAV is selected by default for an instant 16-bit PCM download. Choose MP3, M4A (AAC), OGG, or FLAC in Save as to convert your edited recording. Other formats load the audio engine on first use and require a compatible browser. Original recording saves the untouched browser file.

Why is microphone access unavailable?

Open the site using HTTPS, allow microphone permission in browser settings, and check that a microphone is connected and available.

Can I pause a recording?

Yes. Pause stops adding audio until you click Resume. Click Stop when the recording is complete.

Will recordings survive a reload?

No. Download the recording before reloading, closing the page, or starting another recording.

Does it capture system audio?

This tool records microphone input. It does not request screen sharing or system audio.

What is the difference between Keep and Cut?

Keep selection trims everything outside the selected range. Cut selection removes the selected range and joins the remaining audio.

Can I undo edits or change playback speed?

Undo last edit reverses the most recent edit. Restore original returns to your unedited take. Playback speed changes listening speed only; downloaded audio retains its normal speed.
