Anagram Solver

Find all valid English words that can be formed from the letters of your input word or phrase.

About Anagram Solver

The Anagram Solver finds every valid English word that can be formed using some or all of the letters you provide. Enter a word or jumble of letters and the tool rearranges them to produce a list of real English words, sorted by length or alphabetically. It's perfect for solving word puzzles, playing Scrabble or Words with Friends, cracking crossword clues, or just satisfying curiosity about what words hide inside a phrase. The solver uses a curated English word list and ignores duplicates, so each result is a distinct valid word. You can filter results by minimum word length to focus on longer, more interesting anagrams.

Tips

  • For Scrabble play, focus on 7-letter results — they earn the 50-point bingo bonus.
  • Try shorter substrings first (4-5 letters) to find common high-scoring words quickly.
  • Use anagrams of company or product names in marketing brainstorms — surprising matches often emerge.
  • Combine this with a rhyming dictionary for poetry that needs both anagram and rhyme constraints.
  • If you only get a few results, try entering the letters with one extra common vowel (E, A, I) to widen the matches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it find partial anagrams (using fewer letters)?
Yes. Results include words that use any subset of your input letters, not just words that use all of them.
How large is the word list?
The built-in dictionary contains tens of thousands of common English words suitable for puzzle play.
Are proper nouns included?
No. The word list contains only common dictionary words; proper nouns and brand names are excluded.
What if I enter a phrase with spaces?
Spaces are ignored and all letters in the phrase are pooled together for matching.
Can I use it for non-English text?
The solver is optimized for English. Letters from other alphabets are not matched against the word list.
Will it use letters multiple times?
No. Each letter from your input pool is used at most once per matched word, and the count of each letter in the input limits how many times it can appear in a result.
Can I include a fixed letter in every result?
The tool does not currently filter by required letters. You can use the Word Pattern Matcher tool to require specific letters at known positions.
Is the dictionary updated regularly?
The dictionary is bundled with the tool for fast offline lookup. Major updates ship with new releases of the site.
