Simple Collage Grid Maker

Combine multiple images into a grid collage in your browser. Pick a layout, set padding and background, download as PNG.

About Simple Collage Grid Maker

The Simple Collage Grid Maker lets you combine multiple images into a clean grid layout directly in your browser. Choose from six preset layouts (1×1, 1×2, 2×1, 2×2, 3×1, 1×3), set a cell size, adjust the padding between images, and pick a background color. Each image is scaled to fit its cell while preserving aspect ratio and centering automatically. The final collage is rendered on an HTML5 Canvas and available as a PNG download — no server required.

Output: A 3024x1500 PNG showing both states side by side

Family photo grid

Input: Four 1080x1080 family photos, 2x2 layout, 16 px padding, black background

Output: A 2192x2192 PNG suitable for printing or framing

Wide banner

Input: Three landscape photos at 1920x1080, 3x1 layout, 8 px padding

Output: A wide banner PNG approximately 5784x1080 ideal for a blog header

Tips

  • Pick a 2x2 layout for square-ratio social media posts (Instagram, Pinterest) — 1200px cells produce a print-quality 2400px collage.
  • Set padding to 0 for a seamless mosaic and 16–24 px for a clean magazine look with breathing room.
  • Choose your background color to match the platform you'll post on — white for Instagram, black for portfolios, brand color for marketing.
  • Pick files in the order you want them placed — the picker preserves selection order for grid placement.
  • Use the 1x3 strip layout to create a wide banner ideal for blog headers or LinkedIn cover images.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I upload fewer images than the layout requires?
Empty cells are left blank (filled with the background color). Upload exactly as many images as there are cells for a complete grid.
Are images cropped or distorted to fill each cell?
No. Each image is scaled to fit inside its cell while preserving its aspect ratio, and centered within the remaining space.
What is the maximum number of images I can combine?
The current layouts support up to 4 images (2×2). The 3×1 and 1×3 layouts support 3. A custom layout with more cells is not yet available.
Can I rearrange the order of images?
Images are placed in the grid in the order they were selected in the file picker. To reorder, select the files in the desired order.
What output format does the collage use?
PNG, which supports transparency and is lossless. The background color fills any padding area.
Is there a minimum or maximum cell size?
The cell size slider ranges from 100px to 600px per cell. The total canvas width and height depend on the number of columns/rows multiplied by the cell size plus padding.
Can I see a preview before downloading?
Yes — the canvas shows the assembled collage as soon as you click Generate Collage, before the download is triggered.
Does the tool support transparent backgrounds?
PNG output supports transparency, but the background color picker requires a solid color. To get true transparency, use a hex code with full alpha in another tool, or pick white and edit afterward.

Glossary

Grid layout
A two-dimensional arrangement of equal-sized cells in rows and columns — here 1, 2, or 3 of each.
Aspect ratio
The proportional relationship between an image's width and height — preserved when scaling to fit a cell.
Padding
Empty space inserted between cells (and around the canvas edge) for visual breathing room.
Letterbox
The blank padding shown above/below or beside an image when it does not fully fill its cell after aspect-ratio-preserving fit.
Canvas composition
The act of drawing multiple images onto a single canvas to produce a unified output.
Pixel density
Pixels-per-cell, controlled by the cell-size slider — higher values yield sharper print output.
